Italy is one of the most beautiful and most visited countries in Europe, and with its diverse cities and towns, there is no doubt in my mind that you’ll absolutely love Italy. Why do I love it so much? Well the fact that you can go ski in the Italian alps in the north, and then head off to wine and dine in the south makes it one unique and unforgettable experience.
Now here do you begin or go in Italy on the Eurail? The options are limitless and I find the trio of Rome, Venice and Florence to be the best starting point on your Eurail trip. These 3 cities are rated amon the top 10 best world attractions. Words cannot describe the beauty of these three cities, and if you’re traveling with your significant other, you will discover a country of romance. The amount of culture and sites to see in just these three cities would leave your head spinning, so make sure to allott enough time to see all you want to.

Since Italy is not known as a cheap country, you’ll be pleased with the usual great prices you’ll find on your Eurail Pass. If you have a lot of time to take most of Italy in, then you’ll be happy know know the rail network can take you mostly everywhere in Italy easily. I highly recommend taking the time to visit Naples and Milan, or take a tour of the smaller gems such as Pisa or Turin. So wherever you decide to go, I hope you have a wonderful time and of course, safe travels!

If you’re planning on visiting Belgium and want to take a trip on its rail system, then you’re in luck! Belgium has not only the oldest rail system in Europe, but is is also one of the most extensive rail systems in Europe. The beauty of Belgium is that you can catch a train from Brussels, and be at any corner of the country within a couple hours time.
Belgium is sometimes called the heart of train travel in Europe, and you’ll find that Belgium connects the east and west. This also means that you’ll find a plethora of cultures throughout the country which makes it a very unique place to visit. Whenever I go to Belgium I usually rent an apartment in Brussels as my homebase, and from there I’ll explore the city for a few days. If you’ve never been to Brussels you’re in for a lot of exploring because the city is huge! From there it is easy to explore the country side by train.

I’ve already mentioned Brussels as a must visit destination, but there are a whole whack of other amazing places in Belgium to see and explore. Antwerp is the world’s diamond headquarters, but there is more to this city than meets the eye. The town has a lot of left over buildings and monuments from medieval times, some of which you won’t find anything like it anywhere else in Europe. If you loved the canals of Amsterdam, you’ll love the quaint lovable town of Bruges. This town is filled with a charm that is hard to find in the big cities, and it’s a great place to visit that will take you away from the crowded tourist destinations. I highly recommend getting a travel book on Belgium or reading up extensively on the Internet before making your trip. Have a great time and safe travels.

For some reason I tend to get the idea that Austria gets overlooked a lot when people head over to Europe, and I hope you can prove me wrong. Austria is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe and has mountains that only Switzerland can rival. The most important thing you can remember about Austria is that you can see so much of the beautiful landscape right from the train! If you’re a nature lover and want to experience some of the most amazing scenery Europe has to offer then I highly recommend the Austria Rail Pass.
Just like the beautiful Alps, Austria shares something else similar with Switzerland, and that is one of the most efficient train systems on the planet. The train system in Austria is designed not to speed through on its way, but show you the entire country through a system of smart routes. This allows you take take in the most scenery, or connect to all the towns and cities your want to visit along the way. It is truly and amazing journey!
There are a lot of must visit places in Austria but I will only recommend the few I’ve come to know and love. First off, if you’re interested in nature and love to hike and explore then InnsBruck is the city for you. Salzberg is the picture perfect Alpine town you most likely have seen on a postcard. It is a place where everyone can enjoy a slice if Austria. Everything from Skiing, to shopping and of course the architecture. Vienna is the heart of Austria and is a thriving city that boasts fine dining, hotels and nightlife. Vienna is a place you want to spend a few days in and soak all it has to offer because it has a lot!

If you’ve ever wondered what it was like to ski the Swiss Alps I want you to take a look at this beautiful video. If you’ve never thought of traveling to Europe in the Winter then you need to think twice. The ski towns are like a winter wonderland, and the slopes are less crowded and provide some breath taking views. Switzerland and France offer some of the finest skiing in the world so this video should get you in the mood to travel!
I’m sure you’re all aware I’m a big Rick Steves fan and I was out reading the Rick Steves Blog and he posted this little gem that gave me a good chuckle. The folks behind this spoof are a fan of the man himself and I’m glad someone had the guts to make fun of his one strapped backpacks..lol.

Another cool video video from the folks at Eurail this time going through Copenhagen, Denmark. I specifically loved this episode because it’s where most of my family is from. This will give you a quick glance into the live on the rail.
